Richard E. "Franky" Frankfort, 93, of Ephrata, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at Ephrata Community Hospital.
He was born in Ephrata to the late George and Mary (Hilton) Frankfort and was the husband of Audrey (Zell) Frankfort, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage.
Richard served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a medic. He was a member of the Lincoln Fire Company, past Commander of Cocalico Post #3376 V.F.W. Ephrata, and member of Ephrata Blue Lodge #665 F. & A.M. Richard worked as a foreman for the Ephrata Shoe Factory for 48 years and was a custodian for the Ephrata Area School District for 10 years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Josephine; brothers, Robert and Harold Frankfurt, and sister, Pauline Rutt.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 26, at 10 am, in the Pleasant View Cemetery, 650 Fritztown Rd., Sinking Spring. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 26, at 12 pm, at the Zion United Church of Christ, 1356 Apple Street, Ephrata, with Rev. John Miller officiating.
