David S. Hoover, 77, self-employed woodworker

David S. Hoover, 77, of East Earl entered into rest at his home Friday, Aug. 30, 2013.

Born in West Earl Township, he was the son of the late Frank and Magdalena Z. (Sensenig) Hoover. He was married 54 years Dec. 18 to Alta W. (Nolt) Hoover.

David was a self-employed woodworker and a member of the Churchtown Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.

Surviving in addition to his wife are seven children: Eugene, married to Anna (Zimmerman) Hoover of Dundee, N.Y.; Allen, married to Rachel (Hurst) Hoover of Ephrata; David Franklin, married to Elva (Ringler) Hoover of Penn Yan, N.Y.; Edward, married to Elizabeth (Zimmerman) Hoover of Ionia, Iowa; Virginia, married to Ivan Ray Weaver of New Holland; Marlin, married to Lucinda (Zimmerman) Hoover of East Earl and Carl, married to Arlene (Newswanger) Hoover of Ionia, Iowa; 57 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; six brothers and sisters: Arlene Martin of Terre Hill; Leroy, married to Anna Mary (Zimmerman) Hoover of Morgantown; Frank, married to Esther (Garman) Hoover of New Holland; Mary Eberly of Blair County; Ervin, married to Joyce (Martin) Hoover of Akron and John Aaron, married to Anna (Zimmerman) Hoover of Denver.

Preceding him in death is a granddaughter: Susan Hoover and two great-granddaughters.

Funeral services were held Sept. 4 at the late home with further services at the Churchtown Mennonite Church with the Bishop Elam Zimmerman officiating. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery.
