Clarence B. "C.B." Horst, 78, of Ephrata, was welcomed home by his best friend, Jesus, Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at Lancaster General Hospital.
He was born in Farmersville to the late Clarence and Anna (Bollinger) Horst and was the husband of Doris (Kreider) Horst with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.
C.B. was a member of the Blue Ball Church of the Brethren, where he served as Pastor. He was ordained into the ministry in 1969. He previously worked at Conestoga Farms and Hollinger's Farm Market. In 2012, he retired from Dutch Valley Food Distributors, Inc, where he served as a salesman and chaplain. He enjoyed people and loved to serve others, ministered to many people, even until the end of his life. He touched more lives than we will ever know.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Brenda, wife of Paul Zimmerman of Lititz; David, husband of Donna Horst of Ephrata; Darlene, wife of R. Dale Gehman of Akron; Marvin, husband of Wendy Horst of Denver; Nevin, husband of Cheri Horst of New Holland; Karen, wife of Matt Burkholder of Lititz; 25 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers: Kenneth, husband of Lorraine Horst of Manheim; Harold, husband of Miriam Horst of Ephrata; Roy, husband of Becky Horst of Ephrata; two sisters: Janet, wife of Sam Weber of Denver and Joyce, wife of Luke Bender of Fort Mills, S.C.
A memorial service was held Sept. 9, at the Middle Creek Church of the Brethren, Lititz, with Pastor Galen Weaver officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
