Evelyn M. Hagy, 53, worked for MCC, taught Sunday school, was musician

Evelyn M. Hagy, 53, of Leola, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at her residence.

She was born in Wakefield, R.I., to Barbara (Edwards) Jordan of West Kingston, R.I., and the late Roland Jordan. She was the wife of Andy Hagy, with whom she shared 12 years of marriage.

Evelyn was a member of the Community Fellowship Church, Lancaster. She played keyboards for worship services at the Water Street Mission chapel services. She had a great love for Jesus and shared her faith through music, at VBS ministries and with a young adult Sunday school class. Evelyn was most recently employed by the Mennonite Central Committee in Akron. She enjoyed traveling, camping and scrapbooking, loved people, always enjoyed a good joke and was a great storyteller. She wrote a book of bad poetry.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by two stepdaughters: Lee Anne, wife of Ray Crooks of Denver; Jenna Hagy of Harrisburg; two step grandsons: Max and Charley Crooks; a brother: Roland Jordan of West Kingston, R.I.; two sisters: Bonnie, wife of Jim Waters of Center Conway, N.H. and Joanne Jordan, companion of John Yates of Charleston, R.I.

A memorial service was held Dec. 22 at the Stradling Funeral Home, Ephrata, with Pastors Bobby Parschauer and Rick Hill officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Evelyn's memory may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee, P. O. Box 500, Akron, PA 17501
