Ronald "Benny" Benedict, Jr., 52, of Brownstown, passed away peacefully at his home after a tough decade-long battle with colon cancer Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013. Local survivors include two brothers: Don Benedict of Ephrata and John, husband of Doris Benedict of Brownstown.
Charles Leonard "Bunny" Gantz, Sr., 81, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late William and Helen Mae Cooper Gantz and the husband of the late Janet Marie Boyce Gantz, who passed away on Aug. 29, 2006. Local survivors include his daughter, Carol G. Coward, companion of Sam W. Brown, Jr. of Denver.
Barbara A. Greenawalt, 78, of Lancaster, passed away Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 at The Mennonite Home. She was born in Manheim to Martha D. and Henry M. Greenawalt. Her sister, Beverly Spese, lives in Denver.
Emma S. King, 86, of Gordonville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013 in Kinzers at the home of Gideon and Susie King. She was the wife of the late Eli Z. King who passed away on Oct. 20, 2011. She was born in Gap, daughter of the late David S. & Katie Glick Esh. She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Her daughter, Priscilla E., wife of Samuel Fisher lives in Denver.
Verna M. Landis, 88, of Tel Hai, Honey Brook, formerly of Coatesville, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013 at Brandywine Hospital. She was the wife of Elvin B. Landis with whom she celebrated 68 years of marriage on Dec. 15. Her son, Kenneth H. Landis, lives in Ephrata.
Donna L. Orr, 64, of New Providence, passed away Sunday, Dec. 22 at the Lancaster General Hospital following an unexpected illness. Local survivors include her aunts: Arlene Landau of Ephrata, Carolyn Stick of East Earl, Loretta Reed of Reinholds and Charlotte Brown of Denver and her uncles: William and Richard Hoshour, both of Denver and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
