William Howe, 80, of Denver, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013, at the Reading Hospital & Medical Center.
He was born in Lancaster County to the late Charles and Maggie (Heck) Howe and was the husband of the late Dolores (Earhart) Howe, who died in 1998.
William worked for the Bollman Hat Factory, and prior to that he worked at the Ephrata Shoe Company, Earharts Auto Parts and Hamilton Equipment. He was a member of the Red Rose Horse & Pony Club and the Adamstown Rod & Gun Club. During the Korean War, he served in the Army.
William is survived by a son: Benjamin, husband of Tymia (Alston) Howe of Reinholds; step son: Michael, husband of Greta (Moyer) Stuber of Schaefferstown; step daughters: Ruth Ann Houck of Denver; Debbie, wife of Junie Landis of Schoeneck; Sharon, wife of Ray Erb of Lititz; Kathleen, wife of Larry Cline of Stevens; Loretta, of the late Peter Ramirez of Akron; Katrina, wife of Ian Phipps of Wynwood; brothers: Charles W. Mohler Jr. of Adamstown and Carl, husband of Rose (Bauman) Mohler of Adamstown; sisters: Elizabeth, wife of the late Leroy Spang of Newmanstown; Mae, wife of John Mertz of Schoeneck; Leona, wife of the late Galen Schmuck of Schoeneck; Rose, wife of Paul Walker of Virginia; sister-in-law: Jean (Earhart) Howe of Schoeneck; 25 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son: William Howe, Jr.; step son: Gilbert Stuber; step daughter: Paula, wife of Dale DeHart; brothers: Robert Howe; John Howe; Isaac Howe and Jim Howe; and sister-in-law: Anna Mae (Gockley) Howe.
A viewing was held April 12 at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, Denver, followed by funeral services with Pastor Rodger Hornberger officiating. Interment took place in the Mellingers Union Cemetery.
