Jay Scott Martin, 51, of West Earl Township, passed away April 30, 2013 at Hospice & Community Care, Lancaster, in the arms of his loving wife.
He was the husband of Patti A. (Detweiler) Martin. They would have celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary on May 25. Born in Ephrata, he was a son of Vera (Hoover) Martin, Ephrata and the late Moses H. Martin.
For the past 28 years, Scott was a self-employed businessman. He was a founder, partner and owner of Realty One and owner of Martin Motorcars. Scott received his associates degree in auto technology from Williamsport Area Community College. While there, he was president of Alpha Omega. He graduated from Lancaster County Real Estate Institute and received his ABR and GRI as a realtor. He was a member of LCAR since 1985. He was a Lancaster County Republican committeeman since 1996. Scott was a member of DOVE Westgate Church where he was a youth advisor from 1985 to 1995 and junior high youth advisor from 1995 to 2002.
Above all, Scott was a follower of Jesus. He was a loving and protective father and husband. He was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling and cars.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by four children: Jared S., Laurie A., Zachary D. and Trent D., all at home; three sisters: Maureen Barr, Lititz; Sharon wife of Rick Lambertson, Lancaster; Julia wife of Steve Schnute, Howell, Mich.; and one brother: Keith H., husband of Melanie Martin, Elizabethtown.
Celebration of life service was held May 5 in DOVE Westgate Church, in Ephrata with Pastor Deryl Hurst officiating. Interment is at Hinkletown Mennonite Cemetery, Earl Township, at the convenience of the family.
