Gerald E. Tobias, 84, of Denver, passed away Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy.
He was born in Reading, son of the late Edwin and Ruth (McCallicher) Tobias and was the husband of Barbara (Fausnacht) Tobias for 32 years.
Gerald was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from the Bollman Hat Factory after 20 years of service. He enjoyed golfing and listening to big band music.
In addition to his wife, Gerald is survived by five children: Tess, wife of Bob Shank of Denver; Bev Ansley of Akron; Barry Kurtz of Hawaii; Brian Tobias of Adamstown and Staci Tobias of Denver; a brother: Richard, husband of Virginia Tobias of Adamstown; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Stephanie Ruth, and a grandchild: Joseph Ansley.
A viewing will be held Dec. 19 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor William Hoch officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
