Anna Mae Voth, 96, wills deputy, worked at MCC, volunteer, piano player

Anna Mae (Gross) Voth died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 at the age of 96.

She was born Feb. 2, 1917 to the late Laura (Bishop) and Melvin Gross. She was raised in Buck County and graduated from Doylestown High School in 1935. Following her graduation, she held the position of Deputy Register of Wills. She moved to Akron to work at the Mennonite Central Committee and it was there that she met Arthur Voth. They were married Jan. 2, 1949. They were the parents of three daughters: Susan and twins Cynthia (Cindy) and Sandra (Sandy).

Anna Mae is preceded in death by her husband: Art and two children: Susan and Cindy. Anna Mae had a brother and two sisters who also preceded her in death. She is survived by one daughter: Sandy, married to Phil Horst; two grandsons: Matthew, married to Betsy and Peter, husband of Angelina. She had one great grandchild: Judah Solomon Horst.

A long-time resident of Akron, Anna Mae and Art moved to Landis Homes in 1995, where she resided until her death.

In her younger years, Anna Mae liked to tend her flower garden, knit and bake. She was known for making ice cream roll for thank-you gifts, birthdays and many other occasions. She played piano and loved music. She and Art volunteered at Fairmount Nursing Home, Landis Homes and Meals on Wheels. Most of all, she enjoyed being involved in the lives of her family, particularly her grandsons. She was a long-time member of the Akron Mennonite Church.

The family would like to thank everyone in Manheim House for their tender care of Anna Mae, particularly over the last months of her life.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Caring Fund at Landis Homes, 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz, PA 17543.

A private burial is planned. Family and friends are invited to join in a memorial service at Landis Homes, East Bethany Chapel, 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz, Dec. 20 at 6:30 p.m.
