Clyde Wingenroth, retired truck driver, cabinet maker

Clyde E. Wingenroth, 89, of Stevens, and formerly of Reinholds, passed away Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 at the Ephrata Community Hospital.

He was the husband of the late Ruth (Showalter) Wingenroth, who passed away Nov. 25, 1995.

Born in Earl Township, Clyde was a son of the late Ervin L. and Estella (Leicy) Wingenroth. He worked for Reinholds Lumber Supply Company for 35 years as a truck driver and cabinet maker until his retirement in 1989.

Clyde was a member of Mellingers Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schoeneck where he had been a church council member and usher. For 20 years, he was caretaker of Mellingers Cemetery in Schoeneck and its secretary for 27 years.

Clyde is survived by five children: Evelyn, wife of Robert Shade of Denver; Martha, wife of Gerald Petery of Denver; Melvin Wingenroth, husband of Vicky, of Fleetwood; Howard Wingenroth, husband of Geraldine, of Reading and Allen Wingenroth, husband of Cindy, of Gap; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a half-brother: Ralph Wingenroth of Stevens and a step-sister: Pauline Hess of Lancaster.

In addition to his wife and parents, Clyde was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Wingenroth.

Friends were received at Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, Ephrata, Dec. 15 and funeral services were at Mellingers Lutheran Church, Stevens, on Dec. 16. with the Reverend Timothy L. Craven officiating. Place of interment was in Mellingers Cemetery.
